Eating in Florence
My mission as your tour guide in Florence is to make sure you have a wonderful time even after our Florence private tour. For this reason, I will give you recommendations for great places to eat in Florence, good gelaterias and wine bars. Please keep in mind that the gelaterias located in the central areas, such as the main piazzas and Via Calzaiuoli, the ones with piles of colorful ice cream, are not the best choice. Also, the restaurants in the main squares, such as the Repubblica Square or Piazza della Signoria, the ones with the waiters inviting you in, aren’t the best in the city. It’s better to look for a simple trattoria or osteria on the narrower streets or to cross Ponte Vecchio and eat in the Oltrarno area where usually locals go.
Transportation in Florence
Whether you arrive at Santa Maria Novella train station or at the airport in Florence, you will find taxis that will take you straight to your hotel anywhere in the city. All my private tours in Florence are on foot, rain or shine, but if you prefer a bike tour in Florence, I can arrange that. Florence’s city center is quite small and all the major tourist sites are within walkable distance from one another. However, comfortable shoes are the perfect option during the private tour in Florence, as there are streets with cobble stones.
Dress code in churches
During our guided tour in Florence, we might enter a church and, in this case, a scarf is useful to cover your shoulders and a knee length dress or skirt it’s a good option in order to avoid any unpleasant experience with the guardians.
